Passage: John 2:12-25
Early in John's gospel, we continue to see the unveiling of the true nature of Jesus as Messiah and Lord. This week we encountered a Saviour who passionately and angrily opposed the systems of religiosity that had crowded out the place of true worship in the temple. Through this confrontation, Jesus prophetically identifies himself as the new temple, and even points to his death and resurrection. We may find ourselves a little uncomfortable with this side of Jesus, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!
