Passage: John 15:18-27
In antiquity, the idea of true friendship meant that you not only shared the joys together but also the troubles, and even the enemies of one’s friends. Jesus warns his disciples that the world will hate them as it hated him, but he also encourages them and equips them to keep their faith through it all. Rather than hating the world back, our call is to love even those who hate us—that is how Jesus responds to the world and that is also our call.
