Passage: John 15:1-17

In today’s text, we learn about trusting the vinedresser to prune us through his word; knowing that it will lead to more fruitfulness. Bearing fruit is an important part of living faithfully as disciples of Jesus. We have received unconditioned grace and love from our God. We didn’t earn them or deserve them. However, once his love and grace are given to us without any conditions, there is now an expectation of us as his people to abide in him and live by his word. There is a duty that we have to him and a requirement to be faithful. This is because we’re his partners in the gospel work of redemption, and that is such a privilege. Being in partnership with God is satisfying for our souls. When we don’t live participating in God’s mission, we will always have this emptiness in our lives because we were called and redeemed to be his partners in his glorious work. Participating in God’s mission gives us deep sense of purpose, meaning, and significance in life.
