Passage: John 7:1-36

In this text, Jesus exposes that the religious people he is speaking to do not know God's timing, God's law, or God himself. In coming to this passage, we need to ask whether this might be true of us as well. Though this might be a frightening thought, Jesus asks us to seriously consider it, not to discourage us, but to draw us to him – the one who knows the Father intimately and enables us to know and have a relationship with him. The invitation of this text is ultimately to come to Jesus, to encounter him afresh, let him unravel our assumptions, and rediscover who God is.
