Passage: Hebrews 5:1-10
Jesus is the better high priest who is uniquely qualified to represent humanity to God, and through his suffering, he also became perfectly qualified to represent God to humanity. Although he was the Son of God and the great high priest, he also chose to become the sacrificial lamb and laid down his life to become the source of eternal life for those who believe in him. Jesus' sacrifice changes our perspective on suffering. In our own suffering, we can draw nearer to God through our high priest Jesus who brings us to the throne room of grace. In our suffering, we are reminded that God is drawing nearer to us; that he himself suffered to be qualified to help us in our time of need. Moreover, we can reflect on how our suffering may be preparing us to be uniquely qualified and equipped to serve others.
