In a world that is under the influence of the deceiver, we need a saviour who comes from the outside of influence to save us. Hebrews teaches us that this saviour is Jesus; not Melchizedek or any of the other heroes from the Hebrew bible. Jesus, our high priest in the Order of Melchizedek, is the saviour who is unstained and completely separated from sin, and he calls us to be a royal priesthood under his leadership. As a kingdom of priests, we have the special privilege of bringing people into relationship with God who writes his commandments on our hearts. Our lives are infused with deep sense of meaning and holy purpose. We are God’s royal priests bringing people into relationship with the Creator God, and bringing his rule and reign to His creation.
