Nehemiah and the people of Israel were able to discern the times and understand that this was a special time in history to be diligent and work hard. They normally valued rest, but this was not a normal time. They knew how to operate in a time of emergency. Do we understand how to discern the times like Nehemiah did? How do we gain such wisdom and discernment? The bible calls us to seek God's wisdom from above and promises us that God would supply the wisdom that we need. In the counsel of Christ-centred community, we can find godly wisdom as we reflect on life and scripture together in community under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.

Don't wait until you're going through that season of having to go hard... Stay vigilant; be prepared; be rested; be deepened in your relationship with God; invest in community NOW so that when that time comes, you have a community ready to answer the trumpet call.
