Passage: John 4:27-42

Through the Samaritan woman at the well story, we learn that God has a track record of using unlikely people to participate significantly in God’s kingdom work. Have you ever felt like you are an unlikely person to contribute meaningful to God’s work? Think again. God has redeemed you and desires to include you in his work of salvation. You don’t need to feel like you can’t make a difference because of your past failures or present shortcomings. By God’s grace, his living water flows in you and he wants to make it overflow to others. Will you accept God’s invitation to participate in his awesome mission?

Moreover, being on mission does not need to feel forced or strained. Participating in God’s mission should be the most natural thing for God’s people. Did you notice how natural “being missional” feels for this Samaritan woman? There is no sense that she feels burdened or forced to go and tell her community about Jesus. Missional living is the natural and most logical outcome of a genuine encounter with (and experience of) Jesus. Do you seek to do Jesus’ will? Do you love him? Are you enjoying a healthy relationship with him? Then it will overflow into mission.
