Passage: John 1:35-51

What does it look like to follow Jesus? Some people think if we do what Jesus wants us to do and live according to his ways, he should help us satisfy our desires and fulfill our agenda. However, the call of a disciple is to leave what we expected and dreamed of, and submit to Jesus' ways. This doesn't mean that what we're expecting and hoping for isn't important to Jesus. It doesn't mean he doesn't care about us. He deeply cares about us, and that’s why we are invited to trust Jesus; that he is going to exceed our expectations in the best way possible. He wants us to be free from the shackles of sin, and even if it means going through struggles and suffering, he wants us to get a deeply abiding and truly satisfying life in him.
