The SDBC ministry to the residents of Kin Village is thriving. There is a Monday bible study and coffee time in Margaret Vidal Court, a twice monthly Saturday fellowship, coffee time at North Court, as well as some biblical teaching once a month on a Sunday morning in the care home. Many of the residents also attend our Sunday services, as well as the monthly senior scene lunch and community dinner.
A few times a year SDBC hosts larger events, such as a tea or barbecue, at the Kin Village Recreation Centre and we thank all of the volunteers who have so generously provided food and their time to these events!
We have a team of volunteer bus drivers who have been trained on the Kin Village bus and provide transportation for residents on Sundays and to the monthly community dinner. There is a need for more drivers to be trained.
We are organizing a ONE-TIME bottle drive on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. If you would please bring your recyclable bottles and cans to the church on that day, and leave them in a collection truck that will be parked in the courtyard, we will arrange to get them to the recycling centre. The residents are very involved in this ministry and have been collecting bottles and cans to be recycled to raise money for the coffee and tea for the Saturday meetings, as well as to contribute to the cost of using the Kin Village bus.
Please come speak to us at the spotlight table in the foyer this Sunday if you are able to provide food to any of our functions and/or are willing to be trained to drive the bus.
Thank you to all!
