Practicing radical hospitality and participating in meaningful connections has been one of our goals for some time. We have preached about it in our services, discussed it on our SDBC Podcast, written about it in our e-newsletter, and mentioned it in conversation. We want to be a church and a community that loves each other well through our hospitality and connections. We want to be a community that asks, "how are you doing" and then earnestly wait for the reply. We want to be people who love Jesus and deeply love each other.
In May of 2022, in an effort to practice radical hospitality and meaningful connections, we started our monthly communion lunches. Every month, on the last Sunday of the month, which is also Communion Sunday, we planned to have an all-church lunch to fellowship together. Since then, we have had almost a year and a half of incredible communion lunches together. We are now seeing about 250 people attending these lunches and we are witnessing the power and beauty of living in community with one another. Friendships are being made, people are being welcomed, and life is being shared around the tables at these lunches.
This coming Sunday, we will have our September communion lunch and we hope to see you there. Our Korean community will be making an incredible meal for us and we are excited to share it with you. We are not a perfect community, but we are a community who wants to meet you and get to know you. So come on out to our communion lunch after the service on Sunday; we can't wait to see you. And, as always, if you are interested in helping with these lunches, please reach out by clicking the button below, as we would love to add you to the team.
