Move for Mental Health Event

29Apr, 2025

Over the last several years, our church has continued to have healthy conversations about supporting mental health in our community. We have had podcast episodes discussing different aspects of mental health, various experts like psychologists, counsellors, and counselling pastors teaching us specific ways in which we could support one another, and even worked with different community partners to support our church family in our own mental health journey. One of these community partners is Alongside You based in Ladner, and the founders of the clinic established a foundation called Step Forward Health Society in order to financially support those who would benefit from counselling services.

In the past, we have raised over $10,000 to support those who are seeking counselling services, but we have now exhausted those funds. The Step Forward Health Society has created a great opportunity for us to help people access the services they need to find support in their mental health journey.

On Saturday, May 3rd at 10AM, Step Forward Health Society is hosting the Move for Mental Health day. They're inviting the community to come together at Deas Island, Fishers Field, for a fun, family-friendly 2.5 km walk to raise awareness and support for mental health in our community.

How You Can Get Involved:

  1. Become a Team Leader – Gather friends, family, or colleagues and rally support.
  2. Join as a Participant – Walk with us and help fundraise for mental health.
  3. Donate or Share – Every bit of support makes a difference!

How to Sign Up:

  1. Go to the event page: step-forward-walk.raiselysite.com
  2. Click "Sign Up" to sign up as a team leader or participant.

Your support helps Step Forward Health Society provide vital peer support and mental health programs for those who need it most.

Together, we can break the stigma and walk for mental wellness!
