Senior's Ministry has been meeting every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-2PM since October. It started with a prompting upon Marilyn Carmack's heart to have something more "meaty" for those who are a little more established in life; a time of spiritual focus, prayer, service (to each other and to the church), and Christlike fellowship. It is an opportunity to "love like Jesus" and demonstrate intentional relationships and biblical hospitality. Growing together in this way has been heartwarming.
Over these months, the ministry has become an established community of both faithful leaders and regular attendees, with each event providing an opportunity to share in birthdays, testimonies, and chatting over that lunch we all bring in its varied forms. We have had missionary moments and practical teachings that have been relevant for us during our specific season of life. This has included police information sessions and a class on how to write our personal histories, along with exercising from our chairs, receiving help with banking, and visiting the daffodil fields. Through all of this, God has been actively working to bring about a spirit of commitment and growth (both in individual lives but also in the group at large), challenging us to seek and trust him. Yes, even though many would think it is time to retire, God still works to reveal his will in our lives in service to him. That is the amazing God we serve and the privilege we have in so doing.
Our last Senior's Ministry event for the season will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd, but we look forward to having you join us when we start back up again in September. If you are wondering whether you can attend these events, all are welcome who are 55+. For more information about our senior's events, click here.
