Introducing Minae

07Jul, 2022

Church family: I'd like to introduce you to Minae Kim, who is joining our staff as the Director of Korean Ministry. As you may have already noticed, there has been a growing number of Korean-speaking people joining our church family recently. Many of these people have been blessed by the ministry of Minae and Leesoo (her husband) at our church. I was first introduced to Minae through her work at Northwest Seminary & College (Northwest) where Minae served as an academic mentor and instructor. Leesoo is also currently serving on the Northwest staff as the Assistant Director of Korean Language CBTE (Competency-Based Theological Education) programs. Both the Fellowship Pacific and Northwest strongly recommended that we connect with Minae because they believed she would be an amazing addition to a local church. Upon meeting with her and Leesoo, I quickly began to see their desire to share the gospel with the Korean-speaking people in the Lower Mainland, and we began to pray for an opportunity to make that happen here at SDBC.

The Fellowship Pacific and Northwest heard of our desire to work together, and they got excited about the potential of our partnership that would bear fruit for God's glory. After several discussions and brainstorming sessions, the Fellowship Pacific committed to financially support our Korean Ministry launch at SDBC. For the next three years, we will be receiving funds from the Fellowship Pacific and a network of Korean churches that are supporting Minae's ministry, and with their support and partnership, we anticipate many Korean-speaking people will come to know Jesus and grow as his disciples through our Korean Ministry at SDBC. Our city is growing in cultural diversity, and it is exciting to see our church family not only reflect this growth but to seek to become more effective in cross-cultural ministries through this opportunity.

Minae has served as a chaplain and teacher at a Christian school in South Korea. Moreover, she has extensive ministry experience serving in the local church context and in the seminary and bible college context. She has completed her Master of Divinity degree, and she is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry degree at Northwest Seminary & College. God has equipped and prepared Minae to serve alongside us here at SDBC, and our team is excited to see how God will bless many people through her service to our community.

Email Minae to welcome her to the team.
