I was stunned when I was asked to write and submit a ministry update. It felt like I was in Gap just yesterday, and now I am helping lead the Young Adults group and sharing a ministry update. So, before I share this update, I want to thank the congregation and staff of SDBC for helping me reach the point where I have the privilege of writing a ministry update. In October, God blessed us with the opportunity to restart the Young Adults ministry at SDBC. The launch night was a smashing success. We then followed up by running a weekly community group and sharing a family-style meal once a month.
As we relaunched the Young Adults group, I've had to trust God throughout the process. When launching something, you never know if people will show up! However, God is drawing out precisely who needs to be part of this growing community. I've already started to see people go deeper with their faith and bond with others at these young adult gatherings. We have started small, but trust that God is working and will grow our new young adult community.
For 2025, we are focusing on building the Young Adults ministry into a nexus and gathering point for young adults in the South Delta area with Hebrews 10:24-25 in mind: "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." One way we will achieve this is by joining with other Young Adult ministry groups in the South Delta area and hosting a Young Adults social night on the first Friday of each month.
As we enter this season of growth for the Young Adults ministry, please pray for us as we change and adapt the program to fit the ever-evolving needs of our Young Adults in South Delta.
