Keep steady your steps according to God's promise…Make level paths
For your feet and take only ways that are firm.

First Steps Preschool is already gearing up and planning for the 2024-25 school year!
For those who are not familiar with this ministry of South Delta Baptist Church, First Steps Preschool is a licensed preschool for three and four-year-olds. We are a busy weekday ministry of the church and have faithfully served the community since 1999.
The purpose of First Steps Preschool has always been to be an outreach to our community. Our goal and desire is to work together with the families to foster and nurture their child's first formal learning experiences. We do this by teaching basic biblical values that emphasize a relationship with a loving God, embracing values of love, respect, thankfulness, and concern for others, the environment, and our community. By providing a Safe, Loving, and Fun environment, children will develop positive social connections, a love of learning, and creative thinking skills for their ever-changing world.
Our teaching team is made up of some amazing women who love Jesus and are blessed with the compassion and empathy required to be an early childhood educator. Megan Dyck, Kim Griffin, and Heather van Eeden are all gifted women who bring their own unique gifts and experience to our team. I am grateful to work alongside each one.
You may wonder, how is First Steps different than other programs in our community? One way we set our program apart from others is by being a non-profit. Everything a family pays goes directly into the program their child receives. Opting into government programs keeps our preschool accessible to all families. First Steps also operates with more teachers than required. More teachers equals higher quality care. Communication and transparency with families is also at the core foundation of our preschool. We also host some very special events throughout the year that provides special memories for families. Every Christmas, the four-year-old class preforms the Nativity Play in the sanctuary for family and friends. The children are dressed in costumes, they sing, act, and tell the story of Jesus' birth. For many of the families, this is the first time they come into the church and hear about Jesus. This past Christmas, we had close to 100 people attend the play! It is quite the production and is one of the true highlights of our program.
If you have children who are entering the preschool years, or know someone who does, please spread the word and let the community know about First Steps Preschool at SDBC!
