We are so thrilled to share our plans for the Christmas season at SDBC. Last year, our province went into heavy restrictions on gatherings due to COVID-19 leading up to the Christmas season, so we had to cancel many of the plans we had made and pivot to a totally different plan. Although we still enjoyed Christmas and wholeheartedly celebrated the gift of Jesus, we missed being together and enjoying some of our Christmas traditions at SDBC. This year, we are thankful that some of those traditions can be celebrated again, which is why we are calling the Advent series, Home for Christmas. In this series, we will explore the biblical meaning of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love as we deep dive into the Hebrew and Greek word study of each word for the four weeks leading up to Christmas. Moreover, you will see our stage gradually transform into the “HOME” set we used for our Home series we did a few weeks ago as we celebrate being home for Christmas.
We are planning a special worship service on December 19th; celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The SDBC Kids choir will perform during this service, and then the kids will be dismissed to celebrate with a birthday party for Jesus in the chapel where there will be games, activities, and a fun Christmas story. After the service, there will be coffee and snacks in the foyer allowing for a sweet time of fellowship.
On Christmas Eve, we will offer two special candlelight services—5PM and 7PM. Please join us for this special time of worship to celebrate and honour the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. You will be able to join us in-person or online for all of these services. We hope to see you there as we worship our Lord and Saviour!
