Easter Highlight: Once for All

14Apr, 2023

One of the most important events in the church calendar has now come and gone. And what a beautiful time it was together as a church family. As you can imagine, we, as a staff, pour an immense amount of thought, time, and energy into a weekend like Easter. But our goal and hope is simple—we pray that people encounter Jesus. For God showed us the fullest extent of his love as Jesus endured the cross on our behalf, once for all. He then displayed his glory and power by offering us a new and living hope, through the power of the resurrection.

But more than just the celebration of a long-past event, this is the gospel. This is the good news of Jesus, who redeems and forgives and transforms and moves people from death to life. This gospel fills us with an inextinguishable hope. I am so thankful and encouraged that our church family had many opportunities to fix their eyes on Jesus this past Easter weekend.

On Good Friday, there was a stillness and a reverent wonder as we heard the final words of Jesus and beheld the cross on which he died. We shared in communion together, remembering the "Once for All" sacrifice of Jesus. Then, in the dark hours between Friday and Sunday, as people met to pray, we know God was listening and moving. As the morning broke on Easter Sunday, we came with a sense of joyful expectation, and a hunger for what God would continue to do: bringing life and victory through the resurrection. I am so thankful for the teams of people who helped us focus our attention on Jesus this Easter. From the big smiles at a pancake breakfast, to the joyous sounds of children searching for easter eggs, (and everything in between!!) we have reason to be extremely thankful. He is risen!
